Couzens Criminal Defense (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the https://couzenslaw.com website (the “Service”). This page explains what information this website collects, what content from other companies is involved when you visit, and what we do and do not do with the information you send us.
This website does not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, session replay software, chat widgets, or any tracking cookies. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not use it for newsletters, marketing, or promotional offers of any kind.

Free Consultation Form (Hosted by Google)
The “Free Consultation” and “Book Appointment” buttons on this website are text links that take you away from couzenslaw.com to a form hosted by Google Forms at docs.google.com. Each button carries a title attribute reading “Hosted by Google Forms,” which your browser displays when you hover over it, so you know where the link goes before you follow it. No part of that form is embedded in this website, and nothing you type into it passes through our website.
When you submit that form, your responses are transmitted to and stored on servers operated by Google, within a Google account controlled by Couzens Criminal Defense. The form asks for your name, telephone number, email address, the county of prosecution or of arrest or investigation, any upcoming court date, and a brief description of your legal issue. If you are inquiring on behalf of another person, the form also asks for that person’s name.
The form does not require you to sign into a Google account, and it does not collect your Google account email address.
Because the form asks about a criminal matter, please note that the information you enter describes a legal situation involving you or the person you name. Provide only what is needed for us to evaluate whether we can assist. Do not attach or transcribe police reports, court filings, discovery, or other case documents into the form.
Google acts as our service provider for the storage of these responses. Google’s own collection practices apply while you are on docs.google.com, and may include your IP address, browser and device information, and Google account information if you are signed into a Google account at the time. We do not control Google’s practices. You can review them at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
If you prefer not to use a Google-hosted form, you do not have to. You may contact us by email at info@couzenslaw.com, by telephone, or by mail at the address listed at the bottom of this page. Any of those methods reaches us directly and bypasses Google Forms entirely.
If you email us, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any information contained in the message headers. Email is not a secure or encrypted method of communication.
Telephone
The telephone numbers on this website are standard dialing links. Selecting one opens your device’s own phone application. We do not use call tracking software, dynamic number insertion, or any service that substitutes or logs the number you dial. We do not record telephone calls.
Information Collected Automatically
Web Server Logs
Like nearly all websites, the server that hosts this website keeps standard access logs. These logs may record your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you request, and the date and time of the request. This information is generated by the hosting infrastructure for security, diagnostics, and abuse prevention. It is not used to build a profile of you, is not combined with any advertising data, and is not shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Cookies
This website does not set advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. Third-Party Content on This Website
We want to be specific about this, because loading content from another company’s server means your browser communicates with that company. No such content loads automatically when you view a page on this website. One page offers content from Google, and it loads only if you choose to load it. Google Maps
Our contact page offers a Google map showing the location of our office. The map does not load when the page loads. What appears in its place is an image stored on our own server, with a button labeled “Load interactive map” and a note stating that loading it connects you to Google.
If you click that button, and only then, your browser requests the live map directly from Google. That request transmits your IP address, your browser type and version, and the address of the page you are viewing. Google may also set cookies in your browser through the map frame, and if you are signed into a Google account at the time, Google may associate the request with that account. Until you click, nothing is sent to Google and no cookie is set.
We do not receive any of this information, and we do not control what Google does with it. Google’s practices are described at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
The map is offered only on the contact page. Our office address is written in plain text on the contact page and at the bottom of this page, so nothing on this website requires you to load it.
Attorney Rating Badges (Justia and Avvo)
Pages on this website display attorney rating and award badges from Justia and from Avvo. The Justia badge is an image file stored on our own server and served from couzenslaw.com. The Avvo badges are drawn directly in the page code itself and are not loaded from anywhere. In neither case does your browser contact Justia, Avvo, or any other outside company to display them, and no information about you is transmitted to those companies when a page loads. Each badge is a link. If you choose to click one, you are taken to a profile page on lawyers.justia.com or avvo.com, and from that point forward the practices of that company apply. Each badge carries a title attribute naming its destination, which your browser displays when you hover over it. Web Fonts
Every typeface used on this website is stored on our own server and served from couzenslaw.com. Your browser does not request font files from Google Fonts or from any other outside font service, and nothing is transmitted to a font provider when a page loads.

- Session replay, heat mapping, keystroke logging, or mouse movement recording software

- Externally hosted web fonts, including Google Fonts
- Externally hosted badge, widget, or logo images
- Third-party content that loads without your action, apart from the map described above, which loads only on request
We do use Google Search Console. Search Console is a reporting tool that shows us how our pages appear in Google Search results. It does not place any code in your browser, does not set cookies, and does not collect or report information about individual visitors or their activity on this website.
Our pages also contain structured data markup (schema.org). This is descriptive information embedded in the page source for search engines. It contains no visitor information and transmits nothing from your browser.
How We Use Information
We use the information you send us only to respond to your inquiry, to evaluate whether we are able to assist you, and to provide legal services if you become a client. We also use server log data to keep the website secure and operating correctly.

The form asks for a short description of your legal issue because we need that context to evaluate your inquiry. Keep it brief. Detailed case facts, documents, and anything you would not want disclosed should wait until an attorney-client relationship has been established and we can arrange a secure method of sending them.
Data Retention
We keep inquiry information for as long as needed to respond to you and to maintain our records of prospective client contacts, including for conflict-of-interest checking, which we are professionally obligated to perform. Client files are retained in accordance with our professional record retention obligations.
